V3 Rates the AMD FirePro-Powered Venom 1801-0T Mini Workstation

Posted on 12 April, 2014

The Boston Labs team recently made some tweaks to the Venom range, enhancing the workstation with AMD FirePro™ professional graphics cards. And it was this alternative specification for the 'baby' Venom that Daniel Robinson from V3.co.uk took a closer look at - awarding it 4/5 stars!

The new-look Venom 1801-0T adds an AMD FirePro W7000 GPU together with CoolIT’s DCLC liquid cooling technology. AMD FirePro cards deliver excellent performance for professionals working with demanding, graphically intensive applications; with liquid cooling technology to ensure the 1801-0T stays cool under pressure. In the review the mini-workstation was praised for its suitability for environments where space is a premium and its overall performance figures on benchmarks for SPECwpc and OpenGL, particularly given its neat dimensions.

The 'baby' Boston Venom range was designed to deliver a small form factor workstation that is affordable and doesn't completely sacrifice performance. It's fantastic to see this recognised by V3.co.uk. If you're looking for a small form factor workstation that packs a punch, the Venom 1801-0T deserves a place on the shortlist.
